It was a theropod that lived in what is now the western United States. It was up to 40 feet long and weighed up to 4.5 tons. The skull was nearly 3 feet long and filled with dozens of serrated razor sharp teeth. It was about 10 feet tall at the hip and had 3 clawed fingers on its hands. The type species is Allosaurus fragilis and was first described by Marsh in 1877.
