Few things excite the imagination more than hearing about major new fossil or dinosaur discoveries. This Fossil Bag allows you to make your own fossil discoveries, study and identify different fossils. You are the very first person to have ever seen the fossils in your kit in detail. Just like a real Paleontologist you may need to make identifications based on small pieces and fragments because not all the fossils you find will be complete specimens. Look closely at the form, shape and structures on the fossil as you compare it to the color identification chart. Once the fossils are sorted they may be identified by comparing what you have found with the supplied descriptions, illustrations, charts and photos. Each bag of fossil matrix is different and may not contain each of the fossils listed or shown on the identification charts. To complete your fossil collection, you should share and trade duplicate fossils with friends or order more Fossil Bags. These fossils are 400-66 million years old. They range in size from 1/4 to 2 inches long. The fossils you may find include:
Sea Urchin Spines
To increase the fun and difficulty level, try these suggestions: Dump the Fossil Bag in a sand box, add water to the sand; Use only a paint brush to find the fossils (i.e. no hands); Use a colander and wash the matrix up and down in a bucket of water; For multiple participants, allow each participant to only find one fossil; Add aquarium gravel to the mixture for added color and excitement.
