Acheroraptor temertyorum

Skull & Jaw Elements

Acheroraptor is an extinct genus of dromaeosaurid theropod dinosaur known from the Hell Creek Formation of Montana. It contains a single species, Acheroraptor temertyorum. It is one of the two geologically youngest known species of dromaeosaurids, the other being Dakotaraptor, which is also known from Hell Creek. Acheroraptor was first described and named by David Evans, Derek Larson and Philip Currie in 2013. The name means "underworld", in reference to the provenance from the Hell Creek Formation, and raptor meaning, "thief”. It was a small dinosaur perhaps 6-7 feet long. The replica specimens presented here are casts from the original type specimen and consists of the left maxilla with some teeth, left lower jaw with no teeth and an impression of the maxilla as found in the matrix.
